The teaching and learning environment at St Luke’s Primary in Silverdale has been transformed thanks to construction works from Fords of Blythe Bridge, with one pupil proudly saying it was now the best school ever.
Building works involved the initial demolition of existing buildings, and the creation of a new extension to provide two additional classrooms, an integrated nursery area, new school library, baby changing and toilet facilities.
Externally, significant excavation, drainage works and groundworks were undertaken to create new staff and visitor car parks, in addition to a new playground for school sports, and a tar paved recreational play area.
As part of the contract, Fords of Blythe Bridge also carried out major remodelling and refurbishment works to the existing school buildings.
The project was delivered on time and on budget, and school leaders are delighted with the end result, with the building works having created a bright and welcoming learning environment for pupils, and valuable wraparound care with the addition of the nursery area.
