Fords of Blythe Bridge have recently undertaken extensive construction works at a Staffordshire Primary School to help improve teaching facilities.
This major extension project has provided additional school places for the new school year and was commissioned to meet growing demand at this outstanding village school. The construction works have now been completed at Springfields First School, as part of a major £650k expansion project to provide much-needed additional school places from September 2017.
Located in Yarnfield near Stone, the Ofsted-rated outstanding first school has seen increased demand for pupil places as a result of its high-quality teaching and also due to growth of the village.
The major extension project was designed and built by educational construction specialist Fords of Blythe Bridge, and over the next three years an extra 75 places will be available for pupils.
A three-class extension to the main school will enable to school to provide two reception classes, three key stage one classes and two key stage two classes from September, which will then increase to three.
In addition, an extension to the existing nursery block will support the provision of an Early Year Hub, providing education and care for children from two to four years, and will include provision for 30 hours of free childcare-funded places.
Alison Bagnall, Headteacher at the school commented: “These fantastic new facilities will bring significant benefit not just to the school but also the wider community, in terms of enhanced nursery and wraparound care provision for local families, and will also enable us to provide additional, much-needed school places to local children, allowing them to walk to school and be educated alongside their friends.”
