Two new teaching blocks have helped to transform teaching at Heathfields Infants School, providing a modern, light and bright learning environment for the future.
Thanks to the design and build expertise of Fords of Blythe Bridge, the school now enjoys a new nursery building and a three-class teaching block for the infants school which both make a strong architectural statement and have been designed to meet the day-to-day needs of their users.
The nursery building hosts two separate play rooms, a kitchen area, secure lobby, offices, stores, accessible WC and infant washroom and toilet facilities. Externally, the nursery incorporates a covered play area in front of both play rooms: the building’s pent roof extends over the play area to provide an overhead canopy with non-slip decking underfoot, enabling outdoor play in any weather.
The new three classroom block has a similarly striking design, and features a pent roof and aluminium powder coated curtain walling to the entire front of the building to blend in with the surrounding urban environment, and to harness the benefit of solar energy. The building houses three bright and airy classrooms with adjoining stores, boys and girls WCs and accessible WC, cleaner’s store and locker area.
Externally, Fords of Blythe Bridge carried out a comprehensive programme of groundworks, including new tarmac surfacing, landscaping and security fencing.
Teaching accommodation fit for the future – the light and bright class bases provide the ideal teaching and learning environment for pupils and staff alike, ensuring the best possible start in life for children in this South Staffordshire community.
