Staff and pupils at Merryfields School in Wolstanton are enjoying fantastic new indoor and outdoor teaching facilities after a multi-phase construction project carried out by Fords of Blythe Bridge.
After the initial phase was completed, which involved the creation of a new sensory adventure playground, Fords of Blythe Bridge designed and built a three-classroom extension and link corridor to the main school to provide much-needed additional teaching space at this growing and successful school.
The brick clad extension blends seamlessly with the existing buildings, with a Roman pan-tile style roof to match existing elevations and new double glazed windows to match the style and colour of the existing.
Internally, large bright classrooms feature full height windows to maximise natural light and views to the surrounding areas, integral wet areas for arts and crafts work, and an internal quadrangle converted into a soft play area for recreational play.
Externally, Fords of Blythe Bridge also carried out full landscaping works including laying new turf, the creation of a relaxing pergola area and a new tarmac play area for pupils. Significant internal refurbishment of the existing school was also undertaken as part of the project to enhance existing facilities and improve the teaching and learning environment for staff and pupils.
The school was so delighted with the end result, that they held an official opening to celebrate the construction works and the immeasurable benefit they are bringing to the school.
